NEW CASTLE, Ind. (AP) - A federal program that finds homes for wild horses is making a stop in Indiana this weekend.
The Sept. 18-19 event at the Henry County Saddle Club in New Castle is part of the Bureau of Land Management's Adopt-A-Wild Horse and Burro program. More than 220,000 wild horses and burros have been adopted since the program began in 1973.
All horses have undergone veterinary examinations and have received vaccinations.
The horses will need gentling and training, and those adopting them must have corrals with attached shelters that meet program requirements.
