Sounds like a wonderful send off for a wonderful human being. There will never be another like him. Our loss is Heaven's gain.

His life was celebrated at his memorial, as it should be. Do you suppose he and Bob Keeshan (Captain Kangaroo) have teamed up now... :) We could never repay you Al for all the memories! What blessings, all...

I have a photo of Uncle Al's airplane parked and I am standing in front of it at the tender age of 4 years old. There will never be anything like "Uncle Al's Following". Many prayers and thoughts be with the family as I can only add thank you Uncle Al and Captain Wendy for those wonderful beginning years for me. The memories are so many to add here. No other man could have done a great job like Al.

One of my fondest memories is not only being on the show, but getting to sit on Uncle Al's knee. The "Hokey Pokey" and singing, "Put Your Toys Away" was always s favorite part of my day. I taught my children to put their toys away singing that same song. From our family to Uncle Al & Captain Wendy, thanks for the memories.

Rest in peace, Uncle Al. Job well done, good and faithful servant.

There isn't much in the news that has made me smile in recent months, but this reporting of Uncle al's farewell was very moving. What a beautiful tribute they gave him, and although it was really a private matter, I am thankful that the family shared his goodbye with his fans.

I have been moved and amused watching the old clips from the show. I am sad that I could not make it to the service but Uncle Al will live in my heart forever. It was a special show from a special man.
