This is STILL going on? holy hell. WCPO cannot plan projects for crap. And why would they continue "reporting" it? They are just embarrassing themselves even more.

I thought this was done on June 26? LOL. WTF wcpo.

This story is lasting longer than jackson's hoopla. It's no longer breaking news.

There is a waiting list of 2 years for those towers you see popping all over the place. Google American Tower. It's interesting to see who the chairman is... He was former vp for Goldman Sachs. Something like that.

motard117: There were allocations for research and emergency services but a majority of the space was sold to the likes of Verizon and AT&T for new commercial services. Google "TV Frequencies Sold". Here's a quote "The government has auctioned those airwaves for billions of dollars to the cell-phone companies, which will use them to deliver data much faster to an iPhone, a BlackBerry or a laptop with a cellular modem."

joeaverage: I guess my comment was in regard to exlt81 saying the feds can "mandate anything they want to" which to me sounded a little Orwellian. From what I understand, the "white space" left by the digital TV switchover has been allocated to research use with no licenses being sold. Am I missing something?

I remember many moons ago, if you had a very old TV set, you had to find a UHF converter to watch channel 19 or 48. So get used to the transition, because in a few more years here might be more changes the Friendly Candy Company (FCC) can't never make up their minds.

motart117: Sorry, we USED to own the airwaves. I can still remember when broadcasters had to read... "Wxxx was granted a license by the FCC to serve the public interest as a public trustee until [date]". But then the Government found out it could make billions in free money by selling exclusive rights to use the airwaves to private corporations. So, they sold the old TV bands. What used to be common public property is now PRIVATE property, and we, the public, got the shaft.
