LAHAINA, Hawaii -- The University of Cincinnati Bearcats mens basketball team defeated the #21 Maryland Terrapins Tuesday in the semifinal round of the Maui Invitational, 69-57.

UC led the Terrapins 31-18 at the half and didn't look back.

Yancy Gates' double-double led the way for UC, with 17 points and 13 rebounds.

Deonta Vaughn added 16 points and 5 assists as well.

Greivis Vasquez led the way with 19 points for Maryland, but may have done more harm than good by only shooting 29 percent from the field.

UC remains undefeated at 4-0 and will face Gonzaga Wednesday night at 10 p.m. for the Maui Invitational championship.

UC is a first-time participant in the tournament, and no first-time team has ever won the championship.
