Traffic Violation Leads To Police Chase

SPARTA. Ky. -- A 49-year-old Sparta man who led police on a chase Thursday night is in custody facing charges.

Just before 8 p.m. Gallatin County police pulled over Roger Allen Parker Jr. for a traffic violation. The trooper who initiated the stop was acquiring vehicle information when police say he was grabbed by the driver.

A pursuit ensued that lasted for 20 to 25 minutes.

Parker is being charged with one count of endangerment, resisting arrest, assault in the 3rd on a police officer, fleeing and evading, and other traffic charges.  He is currently being held at the Carroll County Detention Center.


The officer who first stopped Parker wasn't injured.
