Good Morning, It's Thursday November 5, 2009

ANOTHER TITLE IN PINSTRIPES
The Yankees have won the World Championship for the 27th time.  Imagine that, 27-baseball titles. They finished off the Philadelphia Phils 7-3 Wednesday night at Yankee Stadium

DH DEVASTATION
The Yanks designated hitter Hideki Matsui drove in six runs to spark the victory.  That ties another Yankee, Bobby Richardson for most r-b-i's in a world series game. Matsui had a two-run homer, a two-run single and a two-run double.  All he needed was a triple for a cycle.

HERO TO GOAT
Ryan Howard who had been the MVP for the Phils in the NLCS set a new World Series record by striking out 13 times.  Imagine if the series had gone seven games.

COUNTDOWN TO SELLOUT
The Bengals once again are still sellling tickets with the NFL blackout deadline approaching.  The Bengals announced Thursday that they still have 3,500 tickets available for Sunday's game against the Ravens.

MUST WIN
Carson Palmer told reporters Wednesday "we know the Ravens have to beat us.  They're in a must-win situation. But we feel we're in that situation too."

THE STANDINGS
The Bengals and Steelers are 1-2 in the AFC North Division with 5-2 records.  The Ravens are at 4-3. The Browns are hot on their heels at 1-7

TWO TOUGH CUSTOMERS
It's the Ravens this week for the Bengals and the Steelers in Pittsburgh next week. "I see this as a two-game season" said Chad Ocho Cinco yesterday.  He's aware of the schedule.  After those two rugged tests, the Bengals have a tray of cupcakes, Oakland, Cleveland and Detroit

STATUS REPORT..SORT OF
Marvin Lewis was asked about whether Andre Smith will play against the Ravens.  "We'll see" said the head coach.  How about the health of fullback Jeremi Johnson, "He'll work today" said Marvin.

ALL GONE
The UC Athletic Office says they have sold out the final three home football games of the season.  West Virginia has been a sellout for some time, but now Connecticut and Illinois have sold out as well.

LOOKS LIKE ZACH
Dennis Janson was at UC practice on Wednesday and he said Tony Pike did only some light throwing on the sidelines.  It looks like Zach Collaros will be making his third start of the season

SATURDAY NIGHT WITH THE CATS
We spent part of Wednesday planning our sports special "Bearcat Fever, the Climb to the Top" for Saturday night.  It will follow the OSU-Penn State game and precede the UC-UConn game.  We're aiming for 7pm.

BUCKS GET NEW THREADS
Ohio State is going to reveal a new uniform for its game against Michigan on November 21.  The design will honor the 1954 Ohio State national championship team and will be worn for only one game.

BUCKEYE HOOPSTERS
Evan Turner had 15 points, 14 rebounds and six assists as Ohio State beat Walsh College 86-48 in an exhibition Wednesday night.

DOWN SOUTH
The Louisville Cardinals took apart Bellarmine 98-65.

BEARCATS TONIGHT
UC makes its first exhibition appearance tonight at Fifth Third Arena.  The Cats will play Saginaw Valley State.

THE REGIONALS
Girls Soccer Regionals reported to us Thursday night.  Centerville ousted defending state champion St. Ursula 1-0 in the Division I semi finals.  In Division II, Madeira beat Indian Hill 2-0 and Fenwick beat Zane Trace 6-0.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY
-Art Garfunkel is 68.
-Sam Shepard is 66.  He played Chuck Yager in "The Right Stuff"
-Peter Noone is 62.  He was Herman of Herman's Hermits.
-Tilda Swinton is 49.  She was great in "Michael Clayton"

There's no joy in Mudville.  The Yanks have won the series.  We'll deal with it.
Enjoy your Thursday
See you on TV
