COVINGTON, Ky. --  The regular season is over and the playoffs are here. For the first time in seven seasons the Holmes Bulldogs are heading into the playoffs with a winning record.

Holmes finished the regular season eight and two. The last time they won eight games was the 2001 season.

Head coach Stephen Lickert contributes this years success to his seniors. Lickert says they have guided and molded the younger players into believing and doing.

While hard work has done its share, also dropping down to class 4A has made a difference as well for the Bulldogs.

Lickert says its a lot easier for him to look across the field and see a team that his Bulldogs can match up with.

Holmes will open the playoffs this Friday night when they host East Jessamine.
