Some teens do it as a joke, for others it's a bold pickup line.
But no matter what the reason, "sexting," or sending nude pictures on their cell phones is illegal.
Six students in Greensburg, Pennsylvania are facing criminal charges for "sexting."
A 14-year-old girl and two 15-year-old girls are accused of sending naked pictures of themselves via cell phone to their 15, 16 and 17-year-old boyfriends.
Police say think before you snap.
"Taking nude pictures of yourself, nothing good can come out of it," said Captain George Seranko, of the Greensburg Police Department. "The best thing to do is to use a phone for what a phone is made for. Talking to people. If you're taking pictures, make sure the picture is of something that isn't illegal."
According to a national study, 20% of teens have sent or posted nude or semi-nude pictures of themselves.
