LOVELAND, OH --A retired Piqua Ohio school teacher and his former student have written a book together called "Lucy's Story: Right Choices But Wrongs Still Left."
Larry Hamilton and his former student, Christina Delaet, wrote the fictional book about his great grandmother, Lucy Sams, who was a slave refugee.
The book is a fictional account of stories Hamilton's grandmother told him about Camp Nelson, one of the largest bases in the country for recruiting and training African-American troops.
The story talks about the suffering the troops endured because of poor living conditions and expulsions.
There is a book signing reception this afternoon in Loveland.
The Greater Loveland Historical Society Museum is hosting the book signing today from 2 P.M. to 5 P.M. at the museum located at 201 Riverside Drive in Loveland.
