Streetcar experts from around the country say Cincinnati should "bite the bullet" and build a system here now.
That was the consensus during a streetcar forum held at the University of Cincinnati Tuesday.
The view came via officials from Seattle, Washington; Portland, Oregon; Little Rock, Arkansas; and Charlotte, North Carolina.
Cincinnati is trying to finance a $100 million system to connect downtown with the area around the UC campus.
"You're there. It's really a matter of the leadership grabbing the subject and saying the best thing we can do in connecting the corridor of downtown and the University of Cincinnati is to move this streetcar and to lay some tracks," said Ken Johnsen, of Sheils Obletz Johnsen - Seattle. "So, I think it's a matter of doing it."
Panelists added they believe light rail could be an add-on for streetcars and that could lead to more people moving to the core of the city.
