CINCINNATI -- St. Nicholas Academy is expanding and will move from Deer Park to Reading in the fall.

The school was created three years ago by combining students from Holy Trinity parish in Norwood and St. John the Evangelist in Deer Park.

It's the largest regional interparish Catholic elementary school in the 19 counties of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati.

Starting with the 2010-2011 academic year a third school will become part of the St. Nicholas family when Our Lady of the Sacred Heart (OLSH) in Reading closes.

Since the OLSH building is newer than the current home of St. Nicholas Academy, St. Nicholas Academy is moving to the Reading facility.

Jay Hollmeyer, St. Nicholas board chairman, said he hopes the expanded school can draw between 300 - 350 students.

St. Nicholas current has 210 children enrolled, while 176 attend Our Lady of the Sacred Heart.

Archbishop Daniel Pilarczyk has already approved the move.

Coadjutor Archbishop Dennis Schnurr will hold a Mass for students from both schools on Friday, December 4 at 8:45 a.m. at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart.
