Voters in Springfield Township have some decisions to make Tuesday about what they're willing to pay for police protection.

The township is asking voters to approve a 2.5 mill levy. That represents an additional $74.21 in taxes for the owner of a $100,000 home.

The township's police chief predicts four vacant police officer positions will go unfilled and another six to eight officers will be laid off if the levy fails.

The township has been experiencing an increase in crime, particularly in robberies and burglaries over the past year.

The police department has not had an increase in funding in eight years.

The polls open at 6:30 a.m. and close at 7:30 p.m.

We'll have all the results right here.
