ANDERSON TWP., Ohio -- Traffic is once again moving smoothly on a Tri-State interstate that was completely covered with hay overnight.

Officials closed I-275 in Anderson Township for nearly two hours Sunday night after a crash ended with a truck losing its load of around 100 bales of hay.

According to the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office, the accident happened around 10:35 p.m. when 35-year-old David Hagar rear ended a pick-up truck pulling a trailer full of hay as he drove behind it along westbound I-275.

The truck and trailer, driven by 28-year-old Aimee Purcell, jackknifed and spilled its load across the roadway near the New Richmond exit

Purcell was not injured in the crash and Hagar was treated for a minor injury at the scene.

Crews had to completely shut down the westbound lanes as they cleaned up the hay from both the interstate and from Birney Lane, which runs below. I-275 reopened to traffic around 12:30 Monday morning.

Officials do not believe alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash, but deputies did cite Hagar for failure to maintain assured clear distance.
