A woman was shot multiple times after her estranged husband came looking for her.
That's according to family members who stood in front of the home on Dana Avenue where the woman was shot.
Those family members tell 9News that the suspect had recently been released from a five-year prison sentence.
They say that she was trying to save the marriage, but he would repeatedly accuse her of infidelity. It was Friday when she moved back in with her father along Dana Avenue.
Wednesday night the suspect allegedly came over to the house looking for her. When he realized she wasn't there, he waited and then ambushed her, said Mathew Harrison.
"I'm her ex-husband and the father of her daughter," he said.
"When they took her away she wasn't conscious," continued Harrison, "I don't know how she's doing."
The victim's husband was taken into custody by an off-duty officer, but not before the suspect caused a major crash with serious injuries on the Norwood Lateral in his escape attempt.
Thus far, police haven't released the names of those involved or the victims' conditions.
