Reds Blow Six Run Lead

Last Update: 6/03/2007 7:44 pm
The Reds looked good throughout most of Sunday's series finale against the Rockies. Matt Belisle kept Colorado's offense in check, while the Reds bats were producing runs.

In the middle of the sixth Cincinnati held an 8-2 lead. The Rockies countered with a couple of runs in the bottom of the frame to make it 8-4. And after seven innings the home team was within three.

But, as has been the case plenty of times this season, the bullben couldn't get the job done. Jon Coutlangus was the first to struggle. Gary Majewski followed with an even worse performance. David Weathers, who came on in the eighth with the bases loaded and no outs, didn't accomplish enough.

The Rockies held a one run lead entering the ninth, but the Reds fought back to tie it and force extra innings. Colorado ended the game in the bottom of the tenth with Victor Santos on the mound. 10-9 was the final.
