Cincinnati Pops conductor, Erich Kunzel has been diagnosed with pancreatic, liver and colon cancer. He will undergo chemotherapy.
Kunzel, 74, started with the Cincinnati Symphony organization in 1965. He's conducted the Pops since 1977.
Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra spokesperson, Chris Pinelo says Kunzel is in good spirits and will continue with all of his conducting commitments.
Pinelo released the following statement on Friday:
Cincinnati Pops Conductor Erich Kunzel asked us to share that he was recently diagnosed with pancreatic, liver and colon cancer and will be undergoing chemotherapy treatment.
Erich is looking forward to his induction into the American Classical Music Hall of Fame on Wednesday and to conducting next weekend’s Cincinnati Pops concerts at Music Hall with Sandi Patty as planned.
He is in good spirits and will continue with all of his conducting commitments.
