COLLEGE HILL, Ohio -- An 18-year-old high school senior is facing serious charges after he allegedly carried a loaded gun to school on Tuesday.

Terron Cornelison, a student at Aiken College and Career High School, is charged with possession of a firearm in school and inducing panic.

Police say a student did the right thing by telling a teacher that another student had brought a gun to school and was showing it off to other classmates.

"At that time, the security officers actually approached this student and questioned him about the allegations. The student actually ran from the security officers and was apprehended a few minutes later after a brief foot pursuit," said Sgt. Danita Kilgore of the Cincinnati Police Department.

Investigators say Cornelison did not immediately cooperate with police, so the school was put on lockdown.

"They locked us in our second bell classroom. They told us it was a code five lockdown and we couldn't go to the bathroom or nothing. The police and everything was here," said Aiken High School student, Francha Lemons.

Most students say they didn't know what was going on, but saw police cars surrounding the building.

Police say they found the revolver with one bullet inside after the suspect told a school resource officer where he had allegedly hid it.

"The weapon was actually located in a locker, not in his locker. And through the help of the school resource officer, they were able to pinpoint that location. They opened the locker up and retrieved the firearm," said Sgt. Kilgore.

Police say they do not have a motive as to why Cornelison allegedly brought the gun to school.

School officials say one of the security guards suffered a minor injury while trying to arrest Cornelison.

No one else was injured.

Cincinnati Public School officials say the student is facing expulsion.
