sometimes when you ride without a helmet, your head just explodes, that is the cause of death. It is rarely the fact that someone pulled out in front of you while talking on a cell phone

Unfortunately there are worse things than dying.

you know, god lets you know when it is your time, helmet or not.

I work in the motorcycle industry and cringe whenever I see anyone ride without a helmet. HOWEVER, I support their right to their choice if they choose not to wear one. (listen up, "pro-choice" people). It IS sad how the media reports motorcycle accidents, leading us to believe that helmets could have saved the riders' lives in every instance. Prayers go to the family in this terrible tragedy.

I have a very dear friend that is an ER doctor. He calls them donnorcycles.Wearing the helmet does greatly improve your chances. But I belive its your right not too.Its your right not to smoke or die from lung cancer too.

Whenever I see a motorcycle ridden by someone not wearing a helmet, I think: "DONORCYCLE!"

I hate to see the media use their political agenda when reporting accidents. I knew Ernie fairly well, and in the last 30 years of knowing this man I know he was doing what he loved. Their was no research involved in this reporting, their is no comment in the article that might have indicated that his health might have contributed to the accident. I wasn't there and apparently neither was the reporter. The headline shows the way the media callously handles bikers and the stories related to their lifestyle.

Those on the helment debate, isn't it possible to use some common sense on the helmet? If you are riding on the freeway, wear the thing for your own head's sake. If you want to cruise around the country without one then I've got no axe to grind either. Enjoy your ride. Just follow the same laws the vehicles have. Don't rely on others to see you, make sure you see them too.
