WOW, REALLY?! THIS STORY HAS BEEN REVISED since first reporting... What, couldn't handle the heat from the public knowing the truth? It seems to me that the BAPD has an insider at WCPO which swayed them to change this story a bit. When first reported, there was no mention of the dog biting a jogger, there was no mention of how the officer 'is being treated by a hand specialist'(how about the dog who attacked out of defense?), along with trying to play down the situation through misdirection by stating that the family broke the law by not giving the pup rabies' shot.....and WTF is "two counts relating to allowing their dog to run at large"?! From what I understand this was a rare occurrence and the family was surprised to find that the dog had escaped. Where's the justice? Why aren't cops EVER held responsible for ANYTHING anymore? Outside of domestic quarrels....many of which go unreported, I'm sure.

The owner personally apologized to the girl walking on the sidewalk. She stated that she felt terrible and did not mean for this to happen. She simply wanted the owner to know he had gotten out. She was there, Jack was not "attacking" her... Officer Pohlman is a joke! His problem solving skills are seriously lacking!

The owner has had the case sent downtown seeing that Blue Ash probably isn't the proper place for a "fair trial". This is NOT over...

No choice??? I can think of three off the top of my head to handle a small dog. 1)call an animal control officer! They can handle pit bulls so a chi-terrier mix wouldn't have been a problem. 2)throw a towel or coat over the dog and pick it up. Surely they could have picked up that amount of weight. 3)Pick up the dog by the back of the neck. Dogs can go almost as limp as cats. 4)Call in their canine officer. Their police dog (assuming they have one) could have intimidated little Jack into submission. I also wonder who at the SCPA is so stupid as to think a JRT-chi mix would weigh 20 lbs. My purebred JRT male weighs only 8 lbs. so there is no way Jack could have weighed 20 lbs. This is just more of Blue Ash at it's finest. One question, what would or could have happened if the bullets had ricocheted???

I would like to meet and shake the hands of the officers involved, and present them with commendations, for making my world safer by their actions. No doubt these boys were built like linebackers, with the brain of a rock, and the penis of a goldfish felt soooooo threatened that they were too rattled to secure the perimeter, and call for "back-up" from animal control,at least they know how to use a rod and noose to secure such a terrorist on his own front porch. If an officer responds to a "scene" he seems to create one if one is not available. I suppose they are just practicing for the next "hostage rescue" by tazeing and shooting 10 lb.pups. Don't forget the grandma's that they seem ready to taze here lately either....

DUH !!!!! Did the officer or any other intelligent human being that may have been there such as the officer's partner instead of tasering or shooting this GIANT MONSTER ever think of putting a towel over the dog and then containing it. Also, I assume the officer had a weapon that was a 9mm or maybe a 40 caliber. Do you think that maybe more than one shot is a little overkill? I am not in any way a fan of PETA but where are they on this case? Why aren't they picketing the Blue Ash Police Station and the officer's home like they do when the colonel kills a chicken? Fair is fair though. Although I stand by what i said, The owner does not deserve to have a dog if she can't license it,take care of it and contain the dog while she is away. If the dog was in the house and possibly in a safe crate if he is destructive, this never would have happened.

I'm sorry the officer was hurt, and yes the family was wrong for letting the dog run loose and not having shots, but there had to be other ways to handle the situation. These officers were WRONG in shooting this dog. No, I take it back, I'm not sorry the officer was bitten. His pain will subside soon, but the pain the dog's family is suffering will continue for a long, long time.

I personally knew this dog and the rest of the family. Believe me, Jack did not weigh 20 pounds 10 at best . Personally I would have bit the S.O.B. if he chased and cornered me . Where I live pepper spray works for the post man . Just my 2 cents which is about all I have ...!!!

There is a website being set up on myspace.com for INFO ON JACK and what is being planned to make everyone accountable. Look up sharon bullock for information.

The weight of Jack was an estimation, per the SPCA. The breed of the dog per the SPCA supervisor was not a jack russel and maybe weighed 15 pounds. It's all a matter of opinion. No one cornered the deer! They had brains and used them. This cop is a joke! We all know police reports are 100% accurate! HA HA HA! So "officer Pohlman"...quit being such a JERK! It is illegal to put someones DOB AND SS# ON A POSTED WEBSITE! The online petition to remove this officer is being set up!
