PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- The Philadelphia Phillies enjoyed a 6-1 lead over the New York Yankees through three innings in Game 5 of the World Series.

Chase Utley put the Phillies ahead in the bottom of the first with a three-run blast, his fourth home run of the series. The homer came a half-inning after Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez opened the scoring with an RBI double.

The Phils chased Yankees starter A.J. Burnett in the bottom of the third following consecutive RBI singles by Jayson Werth and Raul Ibanez. Werth scored the sixth run when Carlos Ruiz hit into a forceout.

Cliff Lee started for the Phillies and hadn't allowed a hit since Rodriguez's two-bagger. Lee tossed a six-hitter in beating the Yankees 6-1 in the series opener.

The Yankees are looking to claim their 27th championship.
