NEWPORT, Ky. -- Residents in Newport got a headstart on Halloween on Sunday afternoon with a tradition that brought out a lot of good costumes for candy.
Hundreds processed down Monmouth Street for the annual "Monsters on Monmouth" parade.
The City of Newport then treated the kids to hot dogs, milk and juice before lining them up for trick-or-treating at Newport on the Levee.
Numerous shops and restaurants offered candy to kids as they ran around dressed as princess's, vampires, Bengals players and more.
"It's halloween spirit!" said organizer Bob Yoder. "We do a lot of great stuff. We've got the haunted duck tours, the U.S.S. Nightmare, the Aquarium has stuff. Newport loves halloween!"
