A new law takes effect Monday that will allow some people to bring guns onto school property.

Under the new law, people who have concealed weapon permits will now be allowed to bring the guns onto school property as long as they are in a car picking up or dropping off a child.

The new gun law allows people with concealed weapon permits to keep a gun hidden in a car as long as it's in a secure holster.

In the past, guns to be in plain sight.

The new law also includes the presumption that a resident acted in self-defense or in defense of another if he or she shoots an intruder that entered unlawfully or without permission.

According to Associated Press, between 2004 and 2007, more than 100,000 people received licenses. Although some people have concerns the new changes could lead to more violence or some taking the law into their own hands, supporters of the law say the overwhelming majority of concealed permit holders are law abiding citizens.
