Officials are warning Boone County residents to be on the lookout and keep their car doors locked following a rash of break-ins over the weekend.

According to the Boone County Sheriff's Department, the break-ins were scattered throughout Burlington, Hebron, Union and Florence. Eight residents in the Lassing Green subdivision in Union reported their cars broken into on Sunday and another five reported break-ins in Hebron's Thornwilde neighborhood on Monday night.

Among the items reported stolen were wallets, purses, mp3 players, gps units, cds and change.

Deputies say most of the vehicles involved were left unlocked with valuables in plain sight. They are reminding residents to lock their vehicles and keep these items out of view.
