CINCINNATI (AP) -- Comair's president has told workers at the regional airline to expect more layoffs in the wake of parent company Delta Air Lines' announcement that service cuts are coming in September.

Comair President John Bendoraitis said in a company-wide memo late Monday that more furloughs will be unavoidable at the Erlanger, Ky.-based airline.

Comair spokeswoman Christine Wever said Tuesday that the airline is assessing the staffing levels needed for the fall schedule and plans to get additional information to its crews within the next two weeks.

The airline has undergone cutbacks due to the economy, increasing oil prices and the impact of the swine flu pandemic.

Comair employs 5,600, including 3,300 at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport.
