LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Michael Jackson's kids and his mother get an allowance from his estate. Now his father wants an allowance, too.

Joe Jackson has filed court documents asking for an unspecified amount from his son's estate to help cover expenses that exceed $15,000 a month.

Michael Jackson's will makes no mention of his father, and he had said he'd often get physically ill at the site of his father. Court documents say Joe Jackson gets $1,700 a month in Social Security and has relied on his son for support through his wife, Katherine, for many years because he has no steady income.

An attorney for the Jackson estate calls the request "quite surprising" and it will be considered.
