In the window of the Bagel and Deli Shop on Miami University's campus in Oxford there's a tribute to Kimberly Young, who was turning 23-years-old this weekend.

Young lost her life around 3 a.m. Wednesday after being flown to University Hospital with what officials and family friends say appeared to be the H1N1 virus, also known as swine flu.

Graduating last December with a double major and a double minor from Miami University, Young had many friends on Miami's campus, all of whom were too emotional to speak.

Inside the Bagel and Deli Shop, Young's boss says she can never be replaced.

"She was a real free spirit. Kind of a, little bit of a hippie girl. She didn't like to be called a hippie, but we all called her one. She was just a great girl," said Gary Franks, Young's boss.

Family friends want Young's situation to be a warning to others who have symptoms of the swine flu to seek medical treatment immediately.

On Wednesday an entire community is just trying to deal with a loss that caught everyone off-guard.

"Last night I got a phone call from her roommate that she had taken a turn for the worse and they had to call an ambulance,” said Franks.

“Took her to the hospital here and life-flight from there. I was thinking okay, she'll get some good care down at UC and be all right. And this morning I heard the bad news. So everybody is shocked here," said Franks.
