A Maysville man is recovering after a boat explosion in Brown County Wednesday afternoon.

Officials say Jack Fultz owns the boat and is the Emergency Management Director for Maysville, Ky. Joe Brewer was also on the boat with Fultz. Brewer is the co-owner of Maysville Marine, a boat repair company.

Officials say the men were on a boat working on both engines trying to get them running around 3:45 p.m. near the William Harsha Bridge in Aberdeen, Ohio. Brewer put the back end of the boat into the water to start one engine and a big explosion erupted. Brewer avoided injury because he was underneath the boat deck.

Fultz was still on the boat when the explosion occurred and he suffered serious burns.

He was flown by a medical helicopter to University Hospital in Cincinnati. His current condition is not known.
