WILMINGTON, Oh -- An investigation is underway after a Blanchester woman lost her life in an accident in Marion Township Friday morning.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol says Barbara Reed, 47, was traveling southbound on State Route 730 when she left the roadway, struck a driveway culvert and a utility pole around 10:35 a.m.

Officials say there was no evidence of braking or other vehicles involved.

Reed was wearing her seat belt, and neither alcohol nor excessive speed appear to have a factor in the crash, according to officials.

Jack Tibbs, Wilmington Post Commander Lieutenant, says, "Thus far, 2009 has been a deadly year for Clinton, Highland and Fayette County motorists. The entire staff at the Wilmington Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol remains committed to the reduction of all motor vehicle crashes. If we are to be successful in our efforts, we must have the assistance of the public. We encourage all motorists to slow down, wear your seat belt and avoid drinking and driving."
