Officials asked city employees to take a 6-day furlough, but many, including the police and firefighters, said 'no'.

Leaders of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees are in talks with City Manager Milton Dohoney.

AFSCME argues that over the past 8 years the city has cut 600 union jobs totalling $11 million.

The city said AFSCME needs to cough up another $1.2 in concessions.
