Man Sentenced For Shooting Wife, Leading Chase

Last Update: 10/30 9:16 pm
A man convicted of shooting his estranged wife then leading officers on a police chase was sentenced to 22 years in prison on Friday.

Matthew Burton, 55, was arrested in May after crashing into several vehicles along I-71 and the Norwood Lateral ramp.

Police say the incident began in Evanston when Burton shot his estranged wife, Siri Davis, several times as she returned from work to stay at her father's house on Dana Avenue.  She survived the shooting but lost one of her eyes.

After shooting Davis, Burton took off with officers in pursuit. At times, police say he was traveling the wrong way on both highway entrance ramps and the interstate.

Burton also tried to run from his car and carjack other vehicles.

A couple of off-duty police officers saw what was going on and helped authorities apprehend Burton.
