A 40-year-old Lockland man has been indicted for allegedly raping the 10-year-old daughter of his live-in girlfriend.

Prosecutor Deters told reporters,  "This man is a beast, who preyed on a 10-year-old girl and we are seeking life without parole in prison for him."

The indictment alleges Michael Chaffer raped the 10-year-old girl 10 times or more between September of 2006 and November of last year.

The girl gave birth to a child last November.

Prosecutors said DNA evidence shows Chaffer is the father of the 10-year-old's baby.

The now 11-year old girl and mother is now in foster care.

Chaffer is currently an inmate in the Ohio prison system reportedly serving time for a prior drug conviction.

Deters said the investigation continues and it is still possible the girl's mother could face charges in the case.
