Man Allegedly Caught With Hands In The Candy Jar

A man is facing a theft charge after allegedly taking cash from a school's candy fundraiser inside an Elmwood Place store.

Dwayne Shaw, 32, was charged Tuesday night for the March 26 theft at A1 Appliances on Vine Street.

The Elmwood Place man allegedly went into the store to talk to the workers about recycling their metal, then swiped $30 from the candy money envelope.

He is facing a misdemeanor theft count.  The school is not known.
