A Madison teacher and coach is on administrative leave after allegations of sexual misconduct.

The Butler County Sheriff's Department is investigating a complaint about 32-year-old Jamie Wagner, who is the Madison High School girls' softball coach.

The complaint was filed by a parent who said one of the players was getting explicit text messages from Wagner.

The student is 18-years-old, so detectives said this will be looked at from two angles. They said because the student is an adult, the only way the allegation is against the law is if the student felt threatened or harassed by the messages. Also, detectives will try to determine if there was a physical relationship.

Deputies said if the two were having a physical relationship, it possibly could be considered a sex crime because Wagner is the student's coach.

Detectives said this is only an investigation at this point and that no charges have been filed.

According to the report, when the student was asked about the situation she said Wagner did text her, but that the messages were not sexual in nature.

When 9News called Wagner's house to get his side of the story, the person who answered the phone hung up.
