LOVELAND, Ohio -- Veterans in Loveland honored a fallen marine Thursday evening.
The Loveland Veterans Memorial Committee and Loveland American Legion Post 256 held a memorial service for Captain David “Seth” Mitchell at Veterans Memorial Park.
Captain Mitchell died October 26 after a helicopter collision in Afghanistan.
His former Loveland football coach Kevin Taylor remembers seeing hints of what Captain Mitchell would become, even in back in high school.
"He was a Marine before he ever joined the Marines,” said Taylor. “It was always 'Yes sir, no sir,' always did what he was asked or told to do, always volunteered to go beyond the call of duty, as he did this past week."
Captain Mitchell volunteered to report early for duty in Afghanistan to help a unit short on manpower.
