A group of South Dearborn Middle School students left Aurora Saturday night to witness history in Washington D.C.

Every student picked for the trip is a member of Student Council or the National Honors Society.

Besides the inauguration, while in D.C. the students be going to a ball, seeing different institutions, and making a trip to the National Air and Space Museum.

Students say they never thought they would get to witness an inauguration that means so much.

"No, no, not in my lifetime.  I mean my mom and dad have never seen anything like this so I'm really luck to be going," said 8th grader Isaac Bowers.

"I'm really excited that it's just not like me and a few friends.  I mean it's the whole group of us all going together to see this all at once," said 8th grader Morgan Mosley.

To keep track of the group, five teachers and five parents are chaperoning the group.

The bus trip was expected to take 14 hours.
