CINCINNATI, Ohio -- A Fairfield woman's work to rescue dogs is featured in a national campaign by Kroger and Nestle Purina.
People watched a preview of the TV special "Tales for the Pet Lover's Heart" at Channel 9 studios Tuesday night.
It features Helen Johnson's story, along with five other pet lovers.
The company picked Johnson for her commitment to rescuing greyhounds.
"My hope is that greyhound rescues around the country are going to see an increase in interest through the program because they're going to see that they're an awesome breed of dog – and not the high maintenance, high energy dogs that people think they are,” said Helen Johnson, of Queen City Greyhound Rescue.
Nestle Purina presented a $150,000 check to Kroger.
The company will distribute the money to animal welfare groups across the country, including $2,500 to Queen City Greyhounds.
