“With help from their parents, these five kids’ demonstrated new ideas for using Jif peanut butter in versatile and creative recipes”, said Maribeth Badertscher, Director, Corporate Communications, The J.M. Smucker Company.
More than 1,000 families from across the United States submitted peanut butter sandwich recipes from August through November. Then those recipes underwent an initial round of judging based on creativity, nutritional balance, taste, appearance and ease of preparation. The final judging event represents the five top scores from the culmination of the preliminary round of judging and a nationwide online vote.
On March 20, the five finalists will put their creativity to the test and debut their peanut butter sandwiches for a panel of judges at The Culinary Loft in New York City’s Soho area. Each child will demonstrate how to prepare his/her sandwich and samples will be distributed to the judges for a taste-test evaluation. In the end, one inventive finalist will be named the creator of the nation’s most creative peanut butter sandwich.
