SPRINGFIELD, Ky. (AP) - A sculpture of Abraham Lincoln will be officially unveiled in downtown Springfield in front of the Washington County Judicial Center.
The unveiling and dedication is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. EDT Wednesday.
The 10-foot-tall bronze sculpture was created as part of the Kentucky Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commemoration and is called "In Sacred Union." It commemorates Lincoln's search for evidence of his parents' marriage and the discovery of their marriage records in Washington County 13 years after his death.
It was designed by California artist Paula Slater and paid for by the Kentucky Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission and the Kentucky Arts Council.
