You can't accuse the Bengals of ducking commitments to the community because they've fallen short of the mark on the field.

Several players put their off-day to good use Tuesday, finishing off a hometown huddle project at Seasongood Square Park in Avondale.

Kenny Irons, Jonathan Joseph, Stacy Andrews and Andrew Whitworth helped cut the ribbon on the kids' fitness center they and dozens of teammates started two weeks ago.

And as another Bengal waited in the wings Tuesday, LaSalle students saluted All-American receiver Devier Posey, introduced as a U.S. Army All-American team member.

The Ohio State bound senior made all the right moves and isn't likely to stray anytime soon.

"I haven't got here to this place without people who've helped me," said Devier.

"A lot of people have helped me – my coaches, my Mom – she's my biggest supporter, she keep's me going everyday. My family members, my friends, my teammates," continued Devier. "And I think I got the easy part. All I've got to do is work hard and do the right thing – and that'll keep me on the right track."

And his Mom isn't the only one tracking his progress, Bengals receiver Chad Johnson wanted to pay respects to a young man whose future is bright beyond words.

"The first thing he said is, 'I respect the game, I like what you do' and he said one thing more, 'I want to be just like you,' – and I stopped him and said, 'Brother, you don't want to be just like me. You want to be good at it."

Word from the other end of North Bend Road that St. Xavier Bomber runningback Darius Ashley has committed to the University of Louisville.
