and i forgot to mention that all of that happened on the safer side of OTR. WE shouldn't try to clean it up. Where do you think all those low lifes are going to go then? they're going to go into our neighborhoods. WE should put a big ass fence around it and let them all kill eachother off. That would be a good clean up

I lived in OTR for one year because i went to school there and in that year some one pulled a gun on my friend because he walked too close to this guy, a girl in my class got beat up and left for dead for 8 dollars. Luckily she was found and was able to recover. My car got broken into, along with many others in my class.i watched a bullet fly past my face and go through a windshield of a car that some one was sitting in. missed his head by a few inches, and mine by a few feet. I heard gun shots every single night. I was followed by a gang of thugs every day on my way to class. I guess just trying to intimidate a little white girl in their neighborhood.a criminal broke in to my locked apt. building and i found him hiding from the cops in the laundry room. Then he pulled a gun on me and told me to get the F out of here and keep my mouth shut. That's all just the top of my head. That was 5 years ago so i'm sure if i thought harder i could remember some more. So i don't know if it's the most dangerous place in the country, but probably OH, and definatly Cincinnati. I would never go back there, and any one who does is just as stupid as i was 5 years ago.

SORRY!! BUT THIS IS WRONG!! OTR IS THE WORST!!! THE FACTS AND STATS SPEAK FOR THEIRSELVES!!! THEY SHOULD PUT ALL IGNORANT PEOPLE AND RAPIST AND MOLESTERS AND SECTION 8 PEOPLE THERE AND DROP A BOMB!!!!!!!!! THAT WOULD SOLVE ALOT OF PROBLEMS!!!! PERIOD!!! IT IS VERY BAD THERE AND WILL ALWAYS BE!

OTR worse than say, Bedford-Stuyvesant in New York? I know it can be bad in OTR but it's hard to believe it's THAT bad. As noted by others, be smart and enjoy the good things OTR has to offer, like Findlay Market.

i wouldn't think the business owners would agree, but the facts are that all cities were judged on the same criteria and OTR won. If city leaders and the people who feel a need to live there want to do something, make some changes to reverse the statistics. I don't see city hall doing a thing and you still read about it on a daily basis.

And whats the common denominator in all this....

Oh sure Bottom....use an informed opinion instead of a bunch of rhetoric. You're exactly right though. I do underground utility work and alot of it is in OTR. As long as you don't act like a wiseass during the day, you're fine. It's not just OTR either. I don't advise walking alone at night in Avondale, College Hill/North College Hill, Clifton, etc.

Yes & no. If you go to OTR in broad daylight & stick to the heavily patrolled main areas then you shouldn't have any problems (at least your chances are WAY better than 1:4). Go at night though off the beaten path & all bets are off. Also much of the crime is drug related (dealers shooting each other) so if you aren't involved with that your chances go way up too. However to say that it isn't dangerous down there is just silly. The study had no agenda to push nor an axe to grind, they just used the same type of statistics from all around the country. Like it or not, OTR came in #1 in their survey. Personally I have no problem going there, but I do so in the daytime, I keep aware of my surroundings, and I try not to do anything stupid. But even after all of that, I'm sure to be out of there well before the end of regular business hours & use the same streets that most everyone else is. To do otherwise would bring me close to that 1:4 figure & that's not going to happen.

What a true case of denial ! 3CDC is only saying this because they have invested so much money into an area which will NEVER change. Face facts,OTR is a disgusting hell hole and anyone who lives/visits there assumes the 1 in 4 risk. A tornado or a plane crash would do wonders. Creeping death would also be nice.

If it's not the worst, I'd hate to be in the worst. Of course, when the street cars run through OTR, everything will be just wonderful.
