CINCINNATI -- A former Cincinnati police officer is suing several people, including the city of Cincinnati.
Bryce Bezdek, a former Cincinnati Police Sgt., is suing nearly two years after he was critically injured on the job.
On November 24, 2007, Bezdek was struck by a car while he was laying down stop sticks to stop a high speed chase in Camp Washington.
Officers were chasing an SUV down I-75 near the Hopple Street exit when the driver, Carmella Duley, rear-ended a pickup truck that hit Sgt. Bezdek.
Bezdek was flown to the hospital where he lay in a coma with broken ribs and countless other injuries. When he awoke, he could not talk or walk. He spent months recovering.
Duley is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence.
A lawsuit released Friday afternoon states Bezdek is suing the driver and passengers that hit him during the chase. Also named in the lawsuit is the city of Cincinnati.
Bezdek claims he was under-insured and was not properly compensated for his injuries.
