Highlands and Winton Woods Advance to State Finals

The Highlands Bluebirds are going back to the state finals in Kentucky.  The Winton Woods Warriors are going to Ohio's finals for the first time.

Highlands beat Pulaski County 52-12 in the state semi-finals at Fort Thomas.  The Bluebirds will play for the Class 5A championship next Friday in Bowling Green.  They'll face John Hardin of Elizabethtown, a 28-21 semi-final winner over Bowling Green.

Beechwood was stopped at the semi-final stage in Class 1A.  The Tigers were shutout at Mayfield 38-0.

In Ohio, Winton Woods Dominque Brown scored seven touchdowns in the Warriors semi-final victory over Columbus Marion-Franklin 69-35.  The Warriors will meet Maple Heights for the Division II state championship next Friday night at Massillon's Paul Brown Tiger Stadium.

Wyoming fell short in their bid to get to the Division III finals.  The Cowboys were ousted by Columbus DeSales 24-7.

Elder plays Hilliard-Davidson Saturday night in Dayton for the right to play in the Division I finals.
