The death of 2-year-old Cecilia Slaby has prompted Hamilton County's Department of Job and Family Services to open a case with the Slaby family.

The child died August 23 after being left in her mother's hot car for eight hours behind Glen Este Middle School, where Brenda Slaby is Assistant Principal.

Job and Family Services Spokesperson Brian Gregg confirmed that Children Services workers have visited the Slabys regarding their daughter, Allison.

The case was opened August 28 when Children Services workers in Clermont County alerted their counterparts in Hamilton County to the fact that the Slabys had another child.

Gregg said he couldn't go into detail about the Slaby case.

However, he said cases typically involve conducting a risk and safety assessment of the home environment and, if warranted, making recommendations on changes needed or services available.
