NEWPORT, Ky. -- Phones are ringing off the hook at the Green Derby Restaurant on York Street in Newport. They're taking reservations for the official grand re-opening Thursday evening.
The neighborhood restaurant welcomed lunch diners for a "soft opening" Thursday afternoon.
The new owner, David Hosea, spent the last three months making repairs and upgrading parts of the restaurant but the menu will be the same.
Many of the same employees also returned to work at the restaurant.
General manager Tom Cardosi says they've added the owners favorite dish, Catfish, to the menu.
The neighborhood restaurant closed after 62 years in business June 28. The previous owners said money trouble forced the restaurant to shut down.
The grand re-opening is scheduled for 5 p.m.
