MODESTO, California -- A five-year-old California girl has more than just the flu to worry about after a Walgreen's pharmacy in Modesto gave her the wrong medicine.

The pharmacy gave Ellen O'Neil a heart medicine last week instead of the Tamiflu prescribed by her doctor. The pharmacy called a day later to let her family know about the mix-up. But by then the girl had taken two doses of amiodarone, a medicine for irregular heart beats.

The girl is still being treated for a heart abnormality after taking the medicine.

A Walgreens spokesperson admitted the error and apologized. He said "we have a multi- step prescription filling process with numerous safety checks to reduce the chance of human error." He added that the company will try to prevent more errors.
