Contestants might want to invest in a warm pair of gloves before taking part in the latest wacky contest on Fountain Square!
Back by popular demand, the Turkey Bowl sponsored by Jack Rouse Associates, will be held Tuesday at Noon on Fountain Square. This “Bowl” has nothing to do with college football. This is about knocking down pins with frozen turkeys.
Discarded frozen store turkeys will be used as the ball to knock down 10 pins. The contestant who bowls the highest score after three throws, will win $100 cash and the first season of “WKRP in Cincinnati," featuring the famous Thanksgiving “Turkeys Away” episode.
Anyone can play. Just bring two non-perishable food items (no glass please) or a $5 cash donation to the U.S. Bank Ice Rink on Fountain Square at Noon on Tuesday. All food items and cash will be donated to local charities. Volunteers will help contestants prepare to take their “turn with the turkey.” Contestants will not need to step onto the ice.
Last year's winner was Mark Bower of Green Township, who knocked down 22 pins out of a possible 30. Spectators are welcome and encouraged to attend.
The U.S. Bank Ice Rink at Fountain Square officially opens Thanksgiving Day, Thursday Nov. 27 from 2-10 pm.
