Warren Moore, former mayor of Union, Ky., and his wife found shot to death in their home. Adult son remains hospitalized.
Neighbors describe Warren Moore, the former mayor of Union, Ky. and his wife Madge, as a quiet couple that mostly kept to themselves.

"Madge and Warren, they were just very humble people.  Always out in their yard," said neighbor Sarah Newman.

But the peace and quiet in the Union neighborhood abruptly ended just before midnight Friday.

Investigators say Warren, Madge and their adult son Michael, a former Warren County sheriff's deputy, were all shot in their Union home in the 10000 block of Indian Hill Drive.

Police say Warren and his wife were killed in the shooting, while Michael was taken to University Hospital where he is recovering after surgery.

Warren served as Mayor of Union from 1983 to 2002.

Michael Moore's career as a Warren County sheriff's deputy ended after multiple drug charges and convictions in 2004 and 2005.

Neighbors say the Moore family is well known in Union and they hope police quickly find who's responsible.

"Not knowing what really happened, it's really scary," said neighbor Terry Borchers. "Because if somebody walked in and shot these people or whatever happened, I would like to know just for simple safety of my children and my wife and my family."

Police say they did interview Michael and that he did give them a name of a suspect, however no one has been arrested.
