Many of you showed your support for firefighters after two of their own died in a house fire in Colerain Township on Friday, April 4.

The 9News staff was inspired by the eulogy of Glendale Fire Chief Mike Finney, who said:

"At some point in the coming weeks, take a moment to stop by your fire department get to know the people that serve your community and thank them for what they do.

"Let them know how grateful you are for the service they provide.

"They aren't looking for compliments or accolades but sometimes its good to know the people you serve appreciate your work."

So, we're asking you to do just that on Thursday:  Show your appreciation to the people who protect you day and night.

Drop by your local fire department and tell them thanks.
