LATONIA, Ky. -- A Latonia, Kentucky family is finding a new place to stay for the next couple of days while crews work to clean up the damage from an overnight fire.

Investigators say the electrical fire started in an outlet in the basement of the home in the 3920 blockof Huntington Avenue around midnight Thursday.

According to officials, the flames spread to nearby PVC water pipes, melting them and causing them to leak.

Between the flames and the leaking water, investigators estimate the damage around $2,000.

The three residents in the home all made it out safely, but will not be able to return for a few days while the gas and other utilities remain turned off for the cleanup.

The Red Cross is assisting the family.
