Investigators say a fire last month in Clermont County they originally called "suspicious" was intentionally set.
The homeowner died after the fire. It happened nearly one month ago in Union Township, Clermont County.
While covering the initial story back on April 5, 9News saw investigators take carpet and padding samples out of the home – and now we've learned those samples have tested positive for gasoline after analysis.
Those samples were collected at the Boyd home on Glendale Drive.
Specifically they were taken from the upstairs bedroom, near where the victim was found.
Thirty-one-year-old Roger Boyd, Jr., died at Anderson Mercy Hospital minutes after being rescued by firefighters.
Boyd was a driver for FedEx and left behind a wife and four young daughters.
Boyd's cause of death has yet to be released by the Hamilton County Coroner's Office.
That coroner's report could show several things, most importantly, whether Boyd's body suffered any trauma prior to the fire.
If it does not, that would leave either a conventional arson scenario by another person or a possibility that the fire was set by the victim.
